One of the coolest thing about reading the Gospels every night, is that it’s gotten to the point where I can literally say, “There was something about what Jesus said last night…” I just went for a walk on break and I smiled. Because his words were on my mind. And I love thinking about it!
It’s like having the most dependable friend in the world right here with me. Someone I can talk to and hear from every day. He’ll never abandon me. He’ll never betray me. He’s there when I’m down and out and he’s there in my triumph. Some one I can talk to, unburden myself, ask for guidance, and then receive it by reading the scriptures.
Honestly, I think that’s one of the coolest things about the Bible. My older brother said it best years ago. When I told him that I prayed every day. He told me, “It’s great that you talk to God, but don’t you want to hear what he has to say to you? Wouldn’t it be cool if he talked to you too?”
Last night, in Matthew Chapter 15, Jesus talked about it’s not what enters the mouth that defiles you, but what comes out of it, the product of the heart. I know I have all kinds of twisted and messed up thoughts. So I wondered if that meant my heart was no good. But in thinking about what he said and how he dealt with that Canaanite woman in the same chapter, I’ve come to the conclusion that…the fact that I have such impulses and horrid thoughts, but don’t act on them, that I restrain myself…it shows that clearly there’s more goodness in my heart than wickedness.
And all I can do is continue to try and get better. So that, doing what’s good to the best of my abilities gets easier and easier. #jesus#bible
Half of all marriages end in divorce, they say. Are they justified? Who decides? Jesus had some thoughts on the subject. It wasn’t until recently that I finally understood. lol, we humans think we’re so slick.
The Truth About Adultery and Divorce – A Theocratic Essay By Rock Kitaro Sept 1st 2019
MIKA – HAPPY ENDING
Remember who is the father of the lie. Keep in mind that lies are enticing because sometimes they tell us what we want to hear. The truth can be painful because it exposes what some of us wish to hide. But to God…there is no hiding. Even if you lie to others, even if you lie to yourself, He can see your deepest intent, he knows what’s in your heart. There is no fooling him.
So when you divorce your spouse because “you’re just not happy anymore” or because “he’s not the same person you once knew” or because “you don’t deserve to live the rest of your life in an abusive relationship.”…it’s in your best interest to acknowledge that God knows the truth. These are all convenient excuses our modern society accepts for ending marriages.
But how does God feel about it? What did Jesus say about it? Do you want to know? Or are you just content with how humans view it…especially if they’re telling you what you want to hear?
During Jesus’s famous Sermon on the Mount, he told the people, “Everyone divorcing his wife, except on account of sexual immorality, makes her a subject for adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.” (Matt. 5:32)
What? I’ve read that scripture so many times, and I confess, I never truly understood it. How is it that a man who marries a divorced woman, commits adultery? How does a husband subject his wife to adultery by divorcing her? It didn’t make sense. Continue Reading
She Hates You Because She Likes You – A Romantic Theory By Rock Kitaro
Before you get the wrong idea and think that this is dating advice, let me clarify that it’s not. The following is yet another observational theory in which I explain a romantic phenomenon that’s been told since antiquity.
Also, warning! This is one of those blue-pill, red-pill moments. Once you read this, your thought process will probably never be the same. Your eyes will be opened and there’s no going back.
This is an idea that I came up with back when I was 21. I’ve said it to several friends but I had no idea the concept would apply to senior citizens. When my grandmother heard it just yesterday. She told me, “I gotta give it to you, Rock. You really are one smart dude.”
Let me explain.
My grandmother, in her late-70s, was telling me about a pastor at her church who seems to despise her. Always making backhanded statements and displaying a bitter attitude. She goes to shake his hand, and he doesn’t even make eye contact with her. He talks about her behind her back and even goes so far as to make esoteric statements in the middle of service, insults directed solely to her.
As she revealed her agitations, I couldn’t help but smirk. This is what I told her.
“If a person who’s attracted to you can’t receive your love…then they’ll settle for your hate. Because whether you love or hate the person, the thing they both have in common is that you got your object of affection thinking about you. And sometimes, that’s all we really want. All we really need is to know that our crush is thinking about us. So we’ll piss you off to the extent that you’re so angry you’re venting to others about us. Thus, mission accomplished.”
To be honest, it’s kind of why I get irritated (jealous) when girls I’m interested in complain about other dudes. I’m thinking to myself… “Come on, missy. That guy isn’t worth your thoughts.”
When I told my grandmother this, you could hear how impressed she was. Not just from the compliments but by her laughter. She was genuinely thrilled and proud of me for making such a revelation. No doubt, she’s heard the cliché of people “antagonizing those they actually have crushes on”…but in her long life of knowledge and experience, I don’t think she’s ever heard anyone explain why it’s like this.
This theory doesn’t apply to everyone, especially if you’re mature, content, of self-confident. However, everyone is susceptible of being on the receiving end of such abuse where you’re like, “damn dude. What did I do to her?”
Think back to when you were a kid. The plot of so many TV programs always showed it. From “The Rugrats” to “Charlie Brown” to freaking “Hey Arnold.” These TV shows had at least one or two episodes showing a girl or guy making fun or antagonizing another character who turns out to actually be in love with their victim. Is this healthy? Is it normal? I don’t know. Maybe I was just one of the lucky ones where the girls who liked me were intrepid enough to lash out and make me feel like was an evil monster that needed to be slayed, for the sake of the towns folk who were our peers and classmates. A discussion of complacency…how people fear the PC culture more than they do God. I explain what it means to Fear God and what it means to love him at the same time.
The King of Kings – A Study of Malachi By Rock Kitaro August 16th 2019
A popular saying these days among young people these days is, “I’m a king! I’m a queen!”
“Beyonce is the Queen”
“I’m looking for my King!”
“If you want to be a king you gotta treat her like a queen!”
I’m seeing it more and more, particularly amongst the Black Community when it comes to men and women searching for their potential spouse. I’ll make this little essay short and sweet and get straight to the point.
We need to stop with all this self-love nonsense. We need to stop with the complacency when it comes to just “accepting” any and everything. And we need to start fearing the one true God as the King of Kings. None of us are kings. None of us are queens. If you submit yourself to Jesus Christ’s teachings, you should do as you’re commanded and pick up the cross to follow him, seeking first the Kingdom of Heaven, storing up your treasures in heaven, not on earth. Even Jesus came to serve, not be served.
The Book of Malachi is one of the most potent Bible Books in the Bible and I can’t believe how much I glossed over it the first time I read it two years ago. Just to give you a bit of background info, Malachi was a prophet after the Jewish captivity in Babylon. The Jewish people were given permission to rebuild the temple that had been destroyed, but even after the near hundred years of the temple’s completion, the people had become complacent when it came to serving and fearing the one true God.
And this seems to be an epidemic when it comes to humankind. One of our biggest flaws, is our forgetfulness and complacency. In times of peace, we become soft and laxed when it comes to our commitments and holding true to such virtues like obedience, honor and duty. And yet, when catastrophe strikes, then all the sudden it’s, “WHERE IS GOD! HOW COULD GOD ALLOW THIS!?”
We’ve done this to ourselves and it’s making me sick to my stomach that people never take responsibility. I hate that so much. Even when it comes to my peers or even potential mates. When I hear about what has happened in their lives, I only respect them when they take ownership. The moment I hear, it’s somebody else’s fault, my respect dwindles.
Because here’s the blunt truth, regardless what your pastor told you, regardless what the world’s telling you. The Bible is chalk full of scriptures that fall along the lines of, “Draw close to Jehovah and he will draw close to you.”
The problem we have as humans is that we want to claim the blessings of God without accepting the conditions of it. I’ve heard teachings that, because Jesus died for our sins, we’re all forgiven regardless of what we do so long as we “accept that Jesus is our Lord and Savior.” And most recently, from the friggin Bachelorette, we have Hannah Brown talking about, “I’ve had sex and Jesus loves me.”
But after growing up and reading the bible from cover to cover, I’ve come to realize that I didn’t hate organized religions. What I hated was the fact that I never felt like I fit in with any of them. But that’s not anyone’s fault. This post isn’t about my inability to fit in. It’s about something else.
Too many times, I’ve seen individuals, intellectual individuals tout Jesus Christ as a wonderful man with awesome and amazing teachings. Then, these same individuals would go on to discredit and doubt the apostles that followed in the rest of the New Testament. Primarily, the likes of Paul, John, Peter, and Timothy.
Two nights ago, I watched a feminist named Naomi Wolf compare Jesus Christ to a social justice warrior. She mentioned how he stood up against the strict conservatives of the day and befriended individuals of all walks of life. Then, just a few sentences later, she says how she doesn’t like Paul because Paul claimed women shouldn’t preach.
It’s around the 18 minute mark
Last week, I watched a spoken word video by Jefferson Bethke called “Why I Hate Religion, but Love Jesus.” In the video, Jefferson claims that Jesus was given by God, but religion was invented by man.
Here’s the thing…first off. I see a benefit to having points of view like Naomi Wolf and Jefferson Bethke. As I told one of my buddies, I think it’s at least cool that these individuals are using their words, their art to reach others and get them involved in learning about God. And hopefully, if the individual truly does pick up the Bible and read it through and through, they’ll come to learn, as I have, that there’s more to it than their cherry-picking/misleading messages.
My first point is something I’ve been told by my betters years ago. It’s the general statement of, “you can’t pick and choose what you want from the Bible and discard the rest.” The only problem I had was that it was never efficiently explained why. And when you’re talking to someone with limited faith, you really have to use logic to reach them. Hitting them with Bible verses when they already doubt the scriptures’ credibility is about as pointless as splashing them when they’re already wet. So allow me to take a stab at it.
Try to wrap your brain around this, I mean, really just think about it. If you’re one of those who likes what Jesus preached, how can you deny the words of his Apostles when everything you know about Jesus was written by his Apostles? Jesus didn’t write the Gospel of Matthew, Mark, John, or Luke himself. Man did.
Which brings me to Jefferson’s logic about how Jesus was from God, but religions were invented by man. If my logic in the last paragraph holds water, then Jefferson’s statement is debunked. More importantly, there’s numerous examples in the Old Testament where God encourages the people to worship as a congregation, the word “assembly” is used abundantly.
Thus, when Jesus commanded his Apostles to go and tell the world about him, it’s only natural that they’d create congregations, essentially establishing the church. That’s why you have the letters to Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, the Thessalonians and Colossians. I won’t lie. In today’s current PC society, those letters teaching people how they should live life would be considered outrageous.
But if you do consider them outrageous, it is my opinion that your heart is exposed. And you’re not alone. That’s alright. No one’s perfect, but accepting your own flaws is the first step to change. I’ll give you an example. Last night in re-reading 2 Samuel, there’s the story of Joab. A general named Abner killed Joab’s little brother. And after King David made peace with Abner, Joab more or less stalked Abner down and murdered him. King David then cursed Joab’s for his actions.
When I read that, I felt conflicted. I definitely understand Joab’s feelings and if I was in his shoes, I’d probably do the same thing (I’m protective of my brothers). But really, those feelings of revenge is an exposure of wickedness in my own heart. Something I need to work on. And by the grace of God I hope I do improve.
I know that when you look at Christianity with a broad lens, it’s like staring at a field blanketed with snow. If there’s but one piece of charcoal on the field above the snow, it’s glaring. It stands out. If there’s charcoal sprinkled all over the field, it’s easy to assume that the field is covered with charcoal, when really a majority of it is still snow.
If you really believed in Jesus and what he taught, then you should appreciate and smile upon them. Why? Because they’re doing exactly as Christ commanded them. To mock them, to insult them, to belittle them is to belittle the teachings of Christ.
More importantly, this nonsense about comparing Christ to social justice warriors…Aside from the fact that his main purpose was to teach repentance and reliance on God, Jesus Christ most endearing quality was that he was self-sacrificing. From what I’ve seen that quality is quite lost upon the SJWs.
Too many times, I’ve seen people bend and manipulate Christ’s teachings to conform to their lives, instead of people conforming themselves to Christ’s teachings. I’ve been hit with the “Well, Jesus hung out with prostitutes and sinners!” or “God made me and God is perfect. So I’m fine the way I am.”
Jesus gave the perfect explanation that so many tend to leave off. Jesus illustrated that its similar to physicians going to visit the sick people. Why would a physician need to visit the healthy ones? He kept company with sinners to help them. And as far as “God making no mistakes”. You’re right. He doesn’t. We’re the ones who constantly err almost on a daily basis. We’re the ones who are imperfect. Jesus Christ, his disciples, his followers, the congregations and religions established in his name, I firmly believe with all of my heart that a majority of them are here to help.
