Is “Christ is King” Really Hate-Speech Now? 

For those who don’t know, Candace Owens was released from the Daily Wire and the prevailing theory as to why, is because Candace expressed that “Christ is King” and some people think that’s antisemitic.  

First off, I want to make it clear that you’re reading the words of a committed Christian. I really do view Jesus as my Lord and Savior and, like a modern-day knight of honor, I strive to obey the words of him and his Apostles to the best of my ability. 

Secondly…I have a great deal of respect for Jewish people. The Bible was written by Jews. Some of my heroes like David, Jeremiah, Hannah, and Elijah were all Jewish or Hebrew. Jesus Christ was Jewish from the line of David. When Oct 7^th went down, I wrote a passionate essay calling out those who were harassing and persecuting Jewish people in America. 

I’m pointing this out because, cutting to the chase…claiming that someone is antisemitic simply because they declare “Christ is King” is a trumped-up charge that’s one-step away from trying to get the person canceled.  

This is why it’s surprising to see it coming from Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire camp of all places. Ben Shapiro made his metaphorical bones by going to college campuses and saying things that went against the mainstream narrative while people were trying to get him canceled.  

There were always some massive protests where hundreds if not thousands of students rose up to boycott his visits to their campuses. Ben spoke out about transgenderism. He called out Feminism, spoke Conservative talking points, and was all about Freedom of Speech, coining the phrase, “facts don’t care about your feelings.”  

This is a guy who does not care about saying things that others find offensive if HE BELIEVES it needs to be said. So, to hear this guy and his cohorts imply that Candace Owens is promoting antisemitism…which is really a veiled attempt to cancel her…it’s sad because it’s like they’re using the same Leftist tactics they used to denounce. 

All that said…let’s be honest. Because there is a thing called a “backhanded remark”. 

I just watched Jason Whitlock’s show where he, Virgil Walker, and Pastor Anthony talked about how there was nothing wrong with Candace Owens or anyone declaring “Christ is King” and I think there’s something missing from the discussion.  

Declaring “Christ is King” may not be antisemitic…but it is most definitely an attack. And I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. 

Ephesians 6:10-20 talks about putting on the Armor of God, the sword and shield of truth and faith. It’s describing armoring yourself as a soldier, not to physically cut down and attack people. But to cut through Satan’s schemes. The battle is on a spiritual and eternal level. 

So, when you declare “Chris is King” to an Atheist, a Muslim, or a Jewish person who does not believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God…best believe you are attacking their belief system. And I’m all for it, if done with love and wisdom. That part is important…love and wisdom. 

If it’s done out of spite, or malice, or you deliberately using God’s word with the intent to make the person feel less than, instead of uplifting them…I can’t condone that. 

This is important because Christians can come off sounding disingenuous, deceitful, and straight up obnoxious. As a Christian who’s been in countless debates with other Christians who then spit out random Scriptures that sound innocuous to someone who has no idea what we were beefing about…I know how it feels to get that esoteric dig, that passive aggressive shot to the gut while the person smiles in your face and pretends they meant no harm. 

Lol, it’s like when Black Folks end heated arguments by barking “GOD BLESS!” when you know they’re just two f-bombs away from throwing hands. Let’s not act like some of us aren’t above all that. 

Now, why are some people calling “Christ is King” antisemitic?  To break that down, unfortunately we have to talk about a guy name Nick Fuentes…and it’s kind of sad, actually. 

Because if not for the Daily Wire, Ben Shapiro’s feelings and their trumped-up accusations of calling Candace Owens an antisemite, I doubt anyone would ever even need to know Nick’s name. But because they gave this guy power by being offended, we have to talk about him. 

Nick Fuentes has been labeled by many as a far-right, white supremacist. During a clip that I have queued up in the video below, Nick talks about getting rid of Jewish power in America and says, “We are here to say America is not a Jewish nation, it’s a Christian nation.”…which was followed by masculine chants of “Christ is King.” 

First off…America may have been founded with Christian principles, but I wouldn’t call it a Christian nation in 2024.

If it was, the divorce rate wouldn’t be what it is. The children being born out of wedlock wouldn’t be what it is. The education system wouldn’t be what it is, and there would be no need for Trump to be elected in 2016, which was a response to the Progressive, Social Justice Movements calling trying to destroy all things Conservative and Christian. 

Founding Father John Adams said in a 1798 letter to the Massachusetts Militia, that “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” 

Secondly, with Fuentes’s audience chanting “Christ is King”…I can see how that might come off sounding antisemitic, only because Fuentes’s speech itself was antisemitic.  

If you call yourself a Christian, then you know that Christ is indeed King and must be declared as such. Christ said in Luke 9:26 that if you are shamed of him, he’ll be ashamed of you when he returns in all his glory. 

Andrew Klaven and Jeremy Boring of the Daily Wire crew are claiming that “Christ is King” is an antisemite dog-whistle aimed at attacking Jews.  While pundits such as Lauren Chen, Jason Whitlock, and Allie Beth Stuckey aren’t about to let what a few supremacists said stop them from declaring “Christ is King.” 

Here’s where I land on it…While I understand Shapiro’s feelings and how backhanded statements can come off as offensive if you’re a non-believer and the person is using it to attack your faith… Allie Beth Stuckey brought up tweets between Shapiro and Candace that caused me to lose a lot of respect for him. 

For those who don’t know, after the Oct 7^th attack on Israel by Hamas, Shapiro and Candace were going at it in their stances of Israel’s response. Shapiro called Candace disgraceful. About a month later in November 2023, Candace put out this tweet: 

Now…you could make the argument that Candace’s tweet was indirectly talking about Shapiro. And I get it. It sucks when you think someone is passive-aggressively talking crap about you, but you can’t prove it. But that’s the thing. You can’t prove it.  

In response to that tweet, Shapiro responded with this: 

So yeeeah….Ben Shapiro can go kick rocks for all I care. Because he’s not wrong, just incredibly disrespectful. Almost every Christian in today’s Woke America is faced with the decision of taking money from a corporation or company in which their values might not align with your own. 

And it’s sad because saying something like that runs the risk of creating the very thing you’re calling out as bad…insert any group of ism or ist. I remember him when he was coming up back in 2016, when he spoke out against woke culture and had the courage to speak common sense. 

But from what I’ve seen, by leveling the trumped up charge of accusing Candace of antisemitism, they’re perpetrating the very tactics they once denounced Leftists of doing, acting like they’re standing on some moral high ground to silence the opposition and get the people you don’t like canceled.

It is refreshing to see so many speaking up about this through their channels, platforms, and the comments section. It seems people are defiant. 

Because, as many have pointed out…that starts a slippery slope of classifying pretty much anything from the New Testament as hate speech, which could be the way of the future so long as people who claim to be Christians really only know bits and pieces but haven’t read it for themselves, thus they are vulnerable to being misled or seeing nothing wrong with a lot of the progressive ideals that have sent the country into decadence and moral decay.  

Speaking of which, lastly…we gotta talk about whether people are finally going to start living the way they say? Christ is King, you say? Well, here’s a few questions for ya. 

Ladies, how do you feel about submitting to your husband’s authority? (Eph 5 22-31)  

Fellas, how do you feel about waiting until marriage before having sex? (1 Corinthians 6 and 7) 

Queenz, how do you feel about homosexuality? (Leviticus 18:22) 

Bruthas, how do you feel about getting blazed and drunk on the weekends? (1 Corinth 6:9-11) 

How do y’all feel about being generous? How do you feel about loving your fellow neighbor as you do yourself? How do you feel about forgiving those who have crossed you? What’s your opinion of telling little white lies or wanting everyone to do whatever they want as long as it makes them happy? 

Christ said that whoever wants to follow him should deny themselves and take up their cross. Do you still think it’s a good idea to prioritized wealth, fame, glory, and sex? 

I’ll leave you with that. If Christ is your king…prove it. Not to me, though I do have discerning eyes from reading the Scriptures daily. But prove it to your king who is always watching.
